Esta gran colaboración, utilizando el nuevo telescopio espacial, estudia cómo se formaron algunas de las primeras galaxias cuando el universo tenía menos del 5 % de su edad actual, durante un período conocido como reionización.

Formado por dieciocho investigadores de doce instituciones, entre los que se encuentra Pablo G. Pérez González, del CAB (centro del CSIC y del Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial), el CEERS cuenta además con más de cien colaboradores de otros diez países.

En la primera semana de análisis de datos, el equipo identificó un objeto especialmente interesante: una galaxia a la que llamaron Maisie, en honor a la hija del director del proyecto, Steven Finkelstein.

Se estima que esta galaxia existió solo 300 millones de años después del Big Bang. Los datos, que tardaron unas veinticuatro horas en recopilarse, son de una zona de cielo cercana a la cola de la Osa Mayor.

Esta misma área del cielo fue observada previamente por el telescopio espacial Hubble, en lo que se conoce como Franja de Groth Extendida. “Es asombroso ver cómo lo que para Hubble era un puntito de luz ahora para Webb se convierte en una galaxia completa y con estructuras preciosas. No solo eso, ¡otras galaxias emergen de la nada!”, señala Finkelstein, profesor asociado de astronomía en la Universidad de Texas (Austin, EEUU) e investigador principal del CEERS.

Las imágenes del proyecto CEERS, extremadamente nítidas, no solo han servido para descubrir galaxias distantes, también muestran numerosos objetos interesantes y bellos, revelando la complejidad de la evolución de las galaxias a lo largo de la vida del universo, añade el CAB.

Algunas galaxias parecen elegantes molinos, otras son como pequeños seres al inicio de sus vidas, otras muestran interacciones con sus vecinas que las deforman o incluso destruyen, y otras se distribuyen en el cielo como si fuera un “comecocos”. Una de las imágenes se obtuvo con el instrumento de infrarrojo medio (MIRI), desarrollado por un consorcio europeo en el que participó el CAB (la otra imagen se captó con el instrumento NIRcam).

“Las imágenes de MIRI son impresionantes, ocho veces más nítidas que las que teníamos hasta ahora”, afirma Pérez González. De acuerdo con el investigador del CAB, “en cada gran misión astrofísica que comienza el universo nos sorprende. Siempre pensamos que ya estamos llegando tan cerca del Big Bang que las galaxias deben ser muy jóvenes y casi deberíamos detectar la primera, pero el Webb nos está revelando galaxias grandísimas ya bastante evolucionadas cuando el universo tenía solo un 5 % de su edad actual”.

“El universo ha sido casi toda su vida supereficiente formando galaxias. No solo eso, también elementos y compuestos químicos complejos, lo que debe tener un efecto en la aparición de la vida”, añade. La colaboración de la estadounidense NASA, la Agencia Espacial Europea y la canadiense CSA ha hecho posible el James Webb.

Sospecha el exfutbolista que tanto el entrenador como el vestuario del United no quiere tener a Cristiano el curso que viene: “Creo que si le preguntas a Ten Hag, no creo que lo quiera. Y no estoy muy seguro de que el vestuario del Manchester United quiera a Cristiano Ronaldo en este momento”.

Carragher sólo ve una solución posible en este culebrón: que Ronaldo abandone el United este mismo verano. Algo que no parece sencillo debido a su situación contractual.

La intención de Cristiano sería marcharse a un equipo que dispute la Champions, pero según avanza el mercado de fichajes eso parece complicado. El Atlético de Madrid es el equipo que más ha sonado, pero Enrique Cerezo ha insistido en que es sería una posibilidad muy remota.

El verano avanza, Cristiano sigue en el United y las críticas continúan sobre él. ¿Dónde estará su futuro? De momento el luso sigue entrenándose con el resto de sus compañeros.

Haaland responde a sus críticos: “No me preocupa el tiempo que me lleve adaptarme al equipo”

Un estudio de Washington atribuye la impuntualidad a distorsiones en el tiempo interno de una persona. “Si una persona tiene un tiempo interno muy rápido tiende a sobreestimar el tiempo y si es lento lo tiende a subestimar“, explica la psicóloga Consuelo Tomás.

El cerebro va equivocando sus cálculos y se les acumulan los procesos. Por ejemplo para llegar a un punto a una hora, hay que calcular la duración del trayecto, si habría sitio o no para aparcar, la distancia hasta el parking y otros factores que bien estimados nos hará ser puntuales.
